Fueled by Purpose. Driven by Opportunity.
Two high school students from Bostonia Global spent twelve weeks at the San Diego Automotive Museum, turning wrenches, sanding panels, and bringing a 1966 Ford Mustang back to life as part of the Automotive Youth Apprenticeship Program.
Under the mentorship of professional technicians and museum staff, students gained real-world experience in automotive restoration—learning the fundamentals of safety, tools, diagnostics, and teamwork. Each week blended classroom instruction with hands-on application, allowing students to see how passion and precision drive success in the automotive industry.
As a paid apprenticeship, the program also taught valuable lessons in financial literacy, accountability, and professionalism, preparing students for the next step in their career journey—whether that’s in advanced training, postsecondary education, or directly entering the workforce.
This pilot program proved what happens when education, industry, and community work together: students discover purpose, employers build talent, and a classic car becomes a symbol of opportunity restored.
““Paid youth apprenticeships are essential for the future of our industry. When students earn while they learn, they gain real experience, confidence, and respect for the craft—while employers help shape the skilled workforce our community depends on.””
